Ruben E. Socarras, Jr., a partner with the firm, focuses his practice in the areas of business and commercial litigation.  He has extensive experience representing business entities and owners in a variety of business related matters in state and federal courts, including contractual claims, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, intellectual property claims, employment related disputes, real estate and title claims, shareholder disputes, and other business related actions.  Mr. Socarras has tried numerous cases to verdict in almost all courts in Florida, as well as before arbitration panels.  In addition to his litigation experience, he also counsels clients in connection with their business transactional needs which includes contract analysis and preparation and the drafting of independent contractor, employment, shareholder, and other business agreements.

Prior to joining KO, Mr. Socarras practiced with a prominent AV rated law firm handling a wide range of general civil litigation matters, insurance coverage disputes, and defense of catastrophic injury claims.

Mr. Socarras received his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida. Mr. Socarras is a member of the Florida Bar, the Broward County Bar Association, and American Bar Association.  He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.

Mr. Socarras was born in Miami, Florida.  In addition to his active participation in the legal community, Mr. Socarras currently serves on the board of a non-profit organization that mentors and assists troubled youths throughout Florida, and is actively involved with the University of Florida Alumni Association.
